David Davis sent his junior minister Robin Walker to answer Labour’s Urgent Question over the Brexit impact papers this lunchtime.
MPs from across the political divide used the opportunity to turn on the government over its handling of the papers, with a number accusing Brexit ministers of being in ‘contempt’ of Parliament, while Ken Clarke said the government was treating the Commons like a debating society.
However, as reported earlier today, Conservative members of the committee appeared to back Mr Davis’s decision to redact the documents.
Craig Mackinlay told the Today programme: ‘It is really rather perverse now, as some Labour members are saying, that opening up our hand to the world is in the national interest when it patently must be the reverse is true.’
Here’s just a flavour of the comments that came from the response to the Urgent Question in the Commons this lunchtime.
