The Article 50 process could be suspended by the end of the year, Nigel Farage has claimed.
With the risk of a ‘no deal’ Brexit becoming more likely and public opinion moving away from the UK exiting the European Union, Nigel Farage told listeners of his LBC show that there will be a ‘huge surrender’ this Autumn.
He said: ‘That is my prediction, that come the autumn, we will make yet more concessions. We will be humiliated further.
‘There will be a massive establishment attempt to say time has now run out which suits Barnier beautifully.
‘They’ll say we can’t do anything before March 29th, it is technically impossible so we must suspend Article 50.
‘There will then be a huge campaign in autumn to achieve this’.
He claimed that it was the EU’s chief negotiator Michel Barnier will acting tough that was forcing time ‘to run out’ in a bid to help the anti-Brexit cause.
‘It would suit them all to kick it into the long grass beyond the next general election’.
Farage also added that the government was talking up ‘no deal’ Brexit as a ‘desperate attempt’ to keep the Conservative Party together.
He said a ‘backroom deal’ this Autumn from Theresa May and the EU would be a humiliation of the Brexit referendum result.
Nigel Farage celebrated the triggering of Article 50 last March with a pint claiming this meant the country was ‘past the point of no return’.
