The next march in support of a final say referendum takes place on Saturday 23rd March 2019.
It is a rally organised by the People’s Vote campaign injunction with Britain for Europe, the European Movement UK, and Open Britain, and other pro-European organisations.
In October approximately three-quarters of a million turned out to march for a People’s Vote, in one of the biggest political protests of the last century.
As European leaders meet to discuss Theresa May’s request for an extension to Article 50 and, with parliament stuck in an impasse about the way forward for Brexit, protesters will be marching in support of a fresh referendum.
Campaigners hope a big turnout will show momentum is still with this option rather than any other, especially after the poor turnout for Nigel Farage’s Brexit Betrayal March.
Where and when?
Campaigners will congegate at 12pm at Park Lane, before marching to Parliament Square from 1pm.
The meeting point will be Park Lane, north of the Hilton Hotel. The nearest tube station will be Marble Arch (Central Line) or Bond Street (Central Line or Jubilee Line).
Those with accessibility requirements can join the march at Trafalgar Square for a shorter route. The nearest fully accessible station to Trafalgar Square is Westminster Underground (Circle, District and Jubilee Line) and Charing Cross (Bakerloo and Northern Line) overground station.
Getting to London
London Charing Cross and London Victoria railway stations are within easy walking distance of the march, and all other mainline stations have easy access to the march via public transport.
On the day of the march there is expected to be railway engineering works at Liverpool Street, Bristol, Uckfield, Lowestoft, and Three Bridges areas plus some suburban London routes which may result in longer journey times for people from those areas by rail.
Grassroots groups, and ordinary members of the public, are organising coaches to the march from all over the UK. Find your nearest public transport to London here.
Coaches are travelling from places including Chesterfield, Doncaster, Lincoln, Peterborough, Stoke and Sunderland, which all voted to leave the EU by heavy margins in 2016.
Speakers
Nicola Sturgeon and Lord Michael Heseltine will be among the keynote speakers. They will be joined by Labour MPs Jess Phillips and David Lammy, and Conservatives MPs including former cabinet minister Justine Greening, ex-attorney general Dominic Grieve and former justice minister Dr Phillip Lee. Anna Soubry, the former Business Minister and Independent Group MP, Sir Vince Cable and Jo Swinson from the Lib Dems and Caroline Lucas from the Greens will talk as well as Ian Blackford from the SNP.
Also speaking will be Dr Chaand Nagpaul, chair of the British Medical Association, Joan Pons Laplana, a Spanish nurse from Yorkshire, and Dr Rachel Clarke, a palliative care doctor.
Can I buy merchandise there?
There will be stalls selling copies of The New European – for every purchase there is a limited number of ‘Bollocks to Brexit’ foam hands available – outside the Hilton Hotel. The latest edition also includes a free poster to take with you.
